Uptown Bay City’s Year in Review

Three years ago, we held our Anchor Tenant Ceremony at the site of Uptown Bay City. Today, the site is a sprawling 43-acre walkable community with more than 600 employees from globally influential organizations, a diverse array of retail and restaurant options, and strong residential demand. The exciting influx of businesses and residents will continue through 2016 and beyond. As 2015 comes to a close, we would like to share progress highlights from this past year, and look forward to the tremendous events occurring in 2016.
2015
Winter:
- The One Bedroom and Two Bedroom Model Condos at 9 East Main were debuted
- The Leprechaun Run of the Bay City St. Patrick’s Day Races took place at Uptown
- The development won an Engineering Merit Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies
Spring:
- The Penthouse Model Condo at 9 East Main was debuted
- Real Seafood Company held their Grand Opening Celebration
- Paul W. Smith broadcasted live from the Dow Corning Business Services Center
- Michigan Sugar announced their new corporate headquarters at Uptown
- The first residents moved into our Brownstone residences
Summer:
- Uptown’s summer concert series began
- Three replica pieces from the Detroit Institute of Arts were installed on the riverfront
- The Bay City Fireworks Festival was celebrated at Uptown
- Don Angelos Aveda Lifestyle Salon held their Grand Opening (see inside)
- The Pirates Races of the 2015 Dow Bay Area Family Y Pirates Festival took place at Uptown
- The development was recognized by the EPA as a Brownfield Redevelopment Success
- A riverwalk mural reflecting Bay City’s lumber history was completed
Fall:
- McLaren Bay Region hosted a Topping Off Ceremony for their new facility at Uptown
- The Uptown Fountain was debuted
- New street parking was added near Real Seafood Company
- The riverwalk connecting Uptown with downtown Bay City was completed
- Bike racks were installed throughout the development
- Two new Penthouse Model Condos were debuted at 9 East Main

- Construction was completed on the last remaining One Bedroom condo at 9 East Main, the Lincoln 305
- Penthouse 402 was featured in the annual Holiday Housewalk, benefiting the Saginaw Bay Symphony Orchestra
To date, 17 of the 20 condominiums at 9 East Main have been sold. The two new Penthouse Models are available for purchase along with the last remaining One Bedroom condo.
In addition, there is 1 Two Bedroom Brownstone currently available for lease.
2016
While 2015 was a year for celebrations and milestones, 2016 is shaping up to be even more monumental. You can expect to see the following highlights by the summer:
- The opening of the Courtyard by Marriott
- The completion of the last phase of Brownstone apartments
- The opening of the McLaren Bay Region Uptown facility
- The Tall Ship Celebration, which includes a $50,000 Dow Corning sponsorship
- The completion of Uptown Place
Uptown Place is a four-story mixed-use commercial building that overlooks the Uptown riverfront and day docks. The first floor is a retail Galleria featuring five boutique shops and two restaurant end-caps, which will include Talk of the Town. A covered arcade cuts through the Galleria, connecting the main parking lot with the riverwalk. Floors two-through-four feature office space, which will include the new corporate headquarters for Michigan Sugar on the entire third floor. Retail, restaurant and office space is available if you would like expand your business to Uptown Place.
